PART 1 - KEY INFORMATION:

The Newmarket Huskies are an AAA competitive distance running (400m and up to the Marathon) Track Club, registered with Athletics Ontario, Ontario Masters Athletics and the Ontario Minor Track Association. We participate in track (indoor/outdoor), cross country, & road racing events.

Our program is about IMPROVING on your own PERSONAL BESTS (PB's) and trying to be the best you can through commitment and work effort. At the same time members get to enjoy the camaraderie of people with similar passions. It is not about winning per se, although it may be a by-product or end result for some.

All members of the Newmarket Huskies Track Club are to abide by our club's Code of Conduct.

We have 3 COMMITMENT competitive seasons.

Members must select at least one competitive season from:

o WINTER: January to March. (primarily indoor track)
o OUTDOOR: April to July or early August, if applicable (primarily outdoor track)
o FALL: September – November (primarily cross-country)

o YEARLY - Road racing happens all year long (for Masters)
o REST PERIODS (No official club workouts) – August & December

In general, the EXPECTATION & COMMITMENT that school-age members sign up for in EACH particular competitive season is:

• 2 workouts per week (1 to 2 workout per week in winter season) with some personal absence exceptions.
• Participation in the Athletics Ontario Championship. This involves committing fully to club-organized team-building travel arrangements (separate fees involved to cover hotel/bus/meal costs, as applicable).

Note 1:

During a competitive season that members do not commit for, they are encouraged to train with their schools (High School or Elementary) to maintain fitness.

Note 2:

University/College members generally train full-time with school teams during the fall/winter season, plus Ontario/Canadian XC Championships. For the summer, they usually compete for the club at Ontario/Canadian Track Championships.

All COMMITTED school age members (High School & Elementary Schools) will have the additional EXPECTATION to participate in their SCHOOL workouts. Club Coaches try to coordinate with School coaches to maintain a win/win situation for the individual.

Workouts will always take place RAIN or SHINE. Only EXCEPTION - when lightning is occurring or conditions are very icy. “There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing”.

Each member has the responsibility to complete their weekly training program on their own when not at either a club or school workout.
